In indian culture plants are seen as personified gods, devas, that have a motherlike quality, as they are life-giving. Without them we could not exist.

As our human consciousness is changing we also find back to our literal roots. This way we are rediscovering the divinity of plants, instead of seeing them as primitive life forms.

Plants are whole beings, which are connected to the sun with their leafs. Their invisible soul is stretched out into the universe, absorbing the energy of the sun. At the same time they are physically connected to mother earth with their roots. Through their wholeness they can bring us, often incomplete feeling humans, healing.

Check out this super practical yarn bowl
I just got one and it's amazing!
It's heavy enough to not move when i pull on the yarn and no more chasing of yarn that's rolling around in my flat.

Materials

If you are new to crocheting and don't want to buy everything separately, i recommend to get a crochet Starter Kit with the main tools.

Yarn in the colors: Beige and green for the body and head. 2 shades of pink; 2 shades of rosé; yellow. For the flower pot: light brown. For soil: dark brown.

Yarn strength: for body and head: sport/baby yarn, number 2 (for example: Schachenmayr Catania)

For the rest: DK, light worsted, number 3 yarn -> i used Milk Cotton Yarn

Sewing pins -> i recommend getting a bunch of sewing pins, because they tend to get lost or bend a little bit

Stitch markers -> i use these (use a stitch marker in the last stitch of each round, moving it up as you go)

Safety eyes: size 9  -> i recommend to get them in a set with different sizes

Hook:  2 mm  -> my go-to and absolute favourite crochet hooks are these Japanese Tulip Etimo Rose crochet hooks. I use them all the time!

Embroidery thread: green for leafs and rosé for cheeks

Yarn Needle, Embroidery Needle -> i recommend get them in several sizes, with a blunt tip (so you don't split the yarn). You will need them very often in amigurumi: the bigger ones for sewing your pieces together and the smaller ones are perfect for embroidery or sewing smaller pieces.

Scissors or cutter -> if you prefer scissors i can really recommend these beautiful high-quality, vintage scissors

OR: If you prefer a cutter - like me - i really recommend this quick to grab yarn cutter

Stuffing -> i use this poly-fil stuffing, i recommend getting a larger amount, because in my experience it's used up fairly quickly

Pattern Notes

The height of the finished flower in the pot is approx. 17 cm.

The pattern is worked in continuous spiral rounds (without closing off the round with a slst). There is almost no sewing needed. All the parts of the flower are crocheted in one piece, except for the leafs, they are sewn on at the end. The soil and flower pot are crocheted separately.

Feel free to use the yarn and matching crochet hook of your choice to make the peony in a flower pot. The result will be bigger or smaller keeping the same proportions.
